Eric Dieperink, MD, Director
Dr. Eric Dieperink is a staff psychiatrist at the Minneapolis VA Medical Center and has been working with the VA's Hepatitis C Resource Center for the past two years. Dr. Dieperink is responsible for providing mental health evaluations, treatment and coordination of care for patients with hepatitis C. Dr. Dieperink attended medical school at the University of Minnesota and completed his Internship and Residency at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. He is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Minnesota Medical School. His current research interest is focused on psychiatric and substance use disorders and their effect on care in patients with hepatitis C.
Christine Pocha, MD, Medical Director
Dr. Christine Pocha is a staff gastroenterologist at the Minneapolis VA Medical Center and Medical Director of the HCRC since August, 2008. Dr. Pocha transferred from Stratton VAMC where she worked as Hepatitis C Lead Clinician and was responsible for the care for patients with hepatitis C and other liver diseases. Dr. Pocha attended medical school at the Friedrich Schiller University (Health Sciences) in Germany. She completed ten years of training in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology at the same university, gaining special knowledge in Hepatology. In addition, she completed a doctoral thesis in clinical pharmacology on liver metabolism and is currently working towards her MPH degree.
She is Assistant Professor at the University of Minnesota in the Department of Medicine.
Her current research interest include liver cancer and end-stage-liver disease as well integrated care models between Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Internal Medicine to provide expert care to patients with chronic liver diseases.
