Hepatitis C-Related Hepatocellular Carcinoma Incidence in the Veterans Health Administration After Introduction of Direct-Acting Antivirals

A recent article looks at trends in Hepatocellular Carcinoma (HCC) incidence within VA to determine whether there have been any changes following mass treatment of hepatitis C. The study found that incidence of hepatitis C-related HCC among VA patients decreased from 2015 to 2018 following hepatitis C treatment efforts from 2014 to 2016. In contrast, the incidence of non-hepatitis C-related HCC increased after 2015.
